Corey
After years of work at The Farmhouse restaurant in his hometown of Christiansburg Virginia, Corey Duncan moved to Norfolk to attend Johnson and Wales Culinary School.
After a stint at The Brown Palace in Denver Colorado and receiving his degree in 2000 Corey went to work as Executive Sous Chef at Norfolk's Harbor Club. Later he worked as Executive Sous Chef at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott where preparing food for parties of up to 5000 was the norm.
He was then lured back to The Harbor Club were he accepted the position of Executive Chef. With the building of The Hilton Garden Inn and Suffolk Conference Center came the opportunity to take over as Executive Chef at a brand new facility.
From there Corey went to work for the Taglis brothers, at Georges Steak House, with plans for a joint venture in the future. The future has brought the opening of The Catering Place (where Corey is Chef/Owner), a wonderful son named Conner Mathew and a beautiful new bride, Mrs. Jnel Duncan.
George and John
After coming stateside, from their native Greece, in the early 70's brothers George and John Taglis went to work in Virginia Beach at The Virginia Steakhouse.
When the opportunity presented itself the brothers joined their uncle, "Big George", to open Georges Steak House on Holland road in Suffolk Virginia.
After opening in 1978 Georges has taken Suffolk by storm. Over the past 30 years the Taglis brothers and their families have established a local following that most restaurants only dream of.
Both, with children involved in the day to day operations of the restaurant, have teamed with Corey to create another Suffolk success: The Catering Place.
